Exposing Sexual Abuse in the UPCI – Article List

Exposing Sexual Abuse in the United Pentecostal Church

Due to how this series of articles on sexual abuse in the United Pentecostal Church has grown, I have created this page so readers may more easily find past and future articles. It is now too time consuming to update each article when new ones are released. Instead of them all being listed at the end of each article, this will be the only one that is updated as new ones are released.

Sexual Abuse in UPC Churches         Mack Charles Andrews (Alabama)    Jordan Young (Kansas – while this one isn’t UPCI, his father Edwin Young had been a UPCI minister)

  1. We were members of the UPCI for 30 yrs and did not know about the horrible coverups until around 2018. While we don’t hate the people, we sure got a taste of the way leadership can be warped and horribly biased. We still pray for the people daily but we cannot express enough how thankful we are to be a part of another godly organization that has transparency and integrity in its leadership. We also know that every organization or fellowship has its flaws; however, the things we are discovering about some in our former ministerial fellowship are beyond shocking…they are disgusting. The UPCI is so financially fueled it has become an organization of power-tripped men rather than the beautiful thing it could have been. We are not referring to thousands of the genuinely anointed and pure-intentioned ones…simply those who take advantage because of their positions. That financial fueling has come about by thousands upon thousands of economically depressed parishioners who are pure in heart but being manipulated by some (not all) of their leaders. Sad that “some” who are very powerful in clout are damaging the whole. A little leaven is what the Bible referred to it as. We are grateful to have our eyes opened to the powerful manipulation and we now realize that is not the way of Jesus at all. We don’t claim perfection by a long shot and we pray daily to become the Christians we should be, but we will never go back to the UPCI. We are seeking God to “deprogram” ourselves of manmade behaviors and doctrines, and it has truly been a struggle. Pray for us as we navigate this journey. We lead a church and their precious souls are too valuable for us to make missteps. We cannot fail at this.
